HP Lab in a Box

A B2B promotional kit for Hewlett Packard aiming to show how HP supplies outperform the competition. The package contained an infographic, branded swag, and Original HP ink and toner cartridges.

Role: Designer & Illustrator
Team: 2 (marketing writer; me)
Client: Hewlett Packard

HP was refreshing their brand at the time of this project and only planned to keep their logo and signature shade of blue. Because of this, I had full freedom to choose fonts, create an illustration style, and add supporting colors.

I chose a friendly typeface to soften the technical message. I stuck with tones of HP’s blue so that it would work alongside their future materials, but I chose a bright green for contrast to highlight their positive data.

Xbox Scarlet Launch Deck

A brief deck outlining the launch of Xbox’s new video game console: Xbox Series X (codenamed Project Scarlet prior to launch).

Part of this deck’s aim was to develop a new design language for Xbox comms. Art Director Sarah Xanthakis created this dark photographic treatment; I then worked the treatment into layouts with type, created iconography, and sourced photography.

Role: Designer & Illustrator
Team: 3 (Sarah Xanthakis – art director; producer; me)
Client: Xbox

Khan Academy Leadership Convening

Branding and collateral for ed-tech company Khan Academy’s annual gathering of thought leaders and philanthropic partners. The key art featured an optimistic illustration of a figure looking forward. Materials included print items used throughout the event, presentation decks, looping slideshows, wayfinding, and swag.

Role: Design Lead & Illustrator
Team: 6 (philanthropy team; marketing designer; me)
Client: Khan Academy

This project fell while Khan Academy was in the process of incorporating more whimsy and delight into its brand and products. This event needed an identity that was polished enough for prestigious attendees including Bill Gates, but that also exemplified the company’s belief that learning should be joyful.

I pared down the company’s lively color palette to a sophisticated blue and green, and incorporated patterns and textures as a subtle way to show playfulness.
